Following an in-game screenshot from God of War, which appeared to show some kind of store where you could purchase items, rumors sparked this week that the upcoming PS4 exclusive would feature microtransactions.
God of War Microtransactions Are A No-Go
However, Sony Santa Monica, and specifically game director Cory Barlog has shut down the rumor immediately. When asked on Twitter whether God of War microtransactions are a thing, he replied with a resounding: “No freakin way!!!”.

The Sony Santa Monica team are currently in Berlin presenting God of War to journalists, and there's another press event coming up Los Angeles later this month, so expect some hands-on impressions very soon!
Earlier this week, Sony showcased the new God of War PS4 Pro bundle and confirmed that the game will run in a dynamic 4K resolution with 2160p checkerboard. The God of War PS4 release date has been confirmed as March 22, 2018.
