Amazon’s God of War series has announced castings for the characters of Mimir, Brok and Sindri, with the former set to be played by Alastair Duncan, who portrayed the character in God of War (2018) and God of War Ragnarok (2022).
Brok will be played by Danny Woodburn and his brother Sindri will be portrayed by Jeff Gulka. The news follows other major castings for the series, including Ryan Hurst (Kratos), Max Parker (Heimdall), Ólafur Darri Ólafsson (Thor), and Mandy Patinkin (Odin).
In regards to the new castings, Woodburn has previously appeared in Seinfeld as Mickey Abbot, and also had roles in The Witcher, Billions, Willow, and Bookie. Gulka is best known for his The X-Files role as Gibson Praise, and also appeared in Stargate SG-1, Laid, and Van Helsing.
Duncan is obviously already known to God of War fan, but he’s also appeared in other video games including Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and its sequel, where he played the role of Celebrimbor. In addition, the Scottish-born actor also appeared in Taggart, Split Second, and Dead Man’s Walk.
Mimir, the self-proclaimed “Smartest Man in the World,” hails from Celtic lands and is of cherry disposition and something of a chatter box. Having served as an advisor to Odin, he was banished to the confines of a tree trunk, where during the game Kratos cut off and reanimated his head, with Mimir accompanying Kratos and Atreus on their journey while dangling from the former’s belt. Presumably the series will follow a similar path for Mimir
Meanwhile, Brok and Sindri are both legendary dwarven blacksmiths, although couldn’t be more different in terms of personality. Brok is foul-mouthed and brash, while Sindri is more upbeat and helpful, although is a complete germaphobe. Both are highly regarded across the realms for their unmatched craftsmanship.
The God of War live-action series is set to being production in Vancouver, Canada from next month.
