Development of Grand Theft Auto 6 has seemingly been confirmed by a Rockstar North latest tax return, of all things.
GTA 6 Development Leaked?
According to TaxWatchUK, the studio filed for a notable increase in its claims for Video Games Tax Relief with HMRC for the 2018/2019 tax year. The claims were approved on the basis that its ongoing project is labelled as ‘Culturally British,’ which is a specific tax requisite that allows game studios to claim large subsidies for high productions with UK cultural ties.

In addition, it has been reported recently that Take-Two, which publishes Rockstar titles, has been eager for the company to pump out games on a more frequent basis, which could suggest that GTA6 is being fast-tracked for release.
What City Is GTA 6 Based On
Rockstar Games is almost certainly working on GTA 6 at this point, and we’ve heard various murmurs about the game’s production over the years. Last year, it was rumored the game would take place in LA in the 1970s, but this was quickly debunked.
Fresh GTA 6 chatter cropped up late last summer, when Rockstar North scrapped its massive Red Dead Redemption 2 banner, suggesting it was about to replace it with something GTA-related.
Given the fact the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X is just around the corner, we can safely assume GTA 6 will arrive on those platforms. There’s a chance that we may get a cross-generation release, but that depends on how soon the game comes out.
The most recent entry in the series, GTA 5, has has been a huge success for Rockstar and publisher Take-Two, shipping over 110 million copies worldwide since its launch in September 2013.
Red Dead Redemption 2 likewise has pulled in the punters, selling 25 million copies and raking in $725 sales during its opening weekend.
