Hacking group fail0verflow have revealed that the outfit has achieved a major milestone in attempting to jailbreak the PS5, tweeting ‘“another one bites the dust” accompanied by what looks like an image of the console’s root eyes.
The group previously managed to circumvent the PS3’s security measures over a decade ago, gaining notoriety in the process. Now, it seems they’ve managed to get one step closer to cracking Sony’s latest home console, with a tweet posted today reading:
Translation – we got all (symmetric) PS5 root keys. They can all be obtained from software – including per-console root key, if you look hard enough.
It should be noted that this doesn’t necessarily mean that the group has managed to fully bypass the security measures on the PS5, acquiring the root key is definitely a key step.

Elsewhere, the group were asked on Twitter if the root keys could be “rotated” easily, to why they replied, “No.”
