Half-Minute Hero sequel heading to Japan

A sequel to one of the PSP’s most quirky and fast-paced RPGs is in the works. According to this week’s Famitsu, a sequel to Xseed’s Hero 30, known as Half-Minute Hero in North America, will be released in Japan on Nov. 4.

The new entry will be called Hero 30 Second in Japan, and features the similar 30-second intervals of gameplay that made the first game so interesting. Half-Minute Hero had several game modes outside the standard RPG storyline, including a shooter and strategy game. It appears the next game will focus entirely on the RPG system with five scenarios: overture, judgment, revolution, Ragnarok and destiny.

Look for about 90 quests spread out over those scenarios and some changes to the core gameplay. That clock that ticks away to your ultimate doom will now stop during different in-game events, in addition to while you explore the map.

But the news that gets us the most excited is the edit mode that will allow gamers to create their own quests, then share them online. We’ll have to wait to hear about any releases outside of Japan.
