Halo Studios’ Damon Conn and Max Szlagor, who serve as executive producer and creative director, respectively, on Halo: Campaign Evolved, have revealed during an interview with GamesRadar the reasoning for bringing the iconic first-person shooter to PS5.
Unsurprisingly, part of the reason is to expand the Halo user base and offer a chance for those who have never touched the series to experience Master Chief’s original adventure for themselves. The duo also revealed that the series is at its strongest “when we have a large, healthy community.”
“We hope to bring along the series veterans who have been with us for the past 25 years on the Xbox and PC platforms, and have them be able to play with this entirely new generation,” commented Conn. “Maybe [it’s] people who have never been exposed to Halo, because they’ve always been on Sony products, or maybe they just missed it, or maybe they switched consoles at a certain point, and they want to kind of come back together.”
“Halo is really, you know, best played when we have a large, healthy community,” Szlagor, added. “We’re able to honor the Halo legacy on PlayStation,” Conn adds. “It’s just paving the way to expand our Halo universe, that’s how we see it.”
Back in October, Brian Jarrad, Halo Studios Community Director, said at the Halo World Championship that Halo: Campaign Evolved is just the start of the franchise’s PS5 invasion, confirming “Halo is on PlayStation going forward starting with Halo: Campaign Evolved.”
Halo: Campaign Evolved is launching on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S later this year, and is a full remake of the original 2001 Xbox shooter.
