According to a new report on The Verge, Halo: Campaign Evolved, the upcoming remake of 2001’s iconic shooter Halo: Combat Evolved, is set to arrive for PS5 at some point this summer.
Sources informed the site that IP holder Microsoft is “tentatively targeting [a] release over the summer.” Following this will be Fable in Fall 2026 as previously confirmed, while Gears of War: E-Day is pencilled for launch during the second half of the year. Keep in mind that Gears of War: E-Day isn’t confirmed for PS5 yet, but it seems very likely given that Gears of War: Reloaded came to Sony’s console last year.
The Verge’s report notes that Microsoft is (understandably) wanting to avoid clashing with the release of Grand Theft Auto VI in November 2026, so final release dates for the above game haven’t been locked down yet. Meanwhile, regarding the long-rumoured Fallout 3 Remaster, the report states that it is indeed in “active development.”
Halo: Campaign Evolved eschews the multiplayer component of the original Halo but fully spruces up the campaign from the ground-up; this isn’t a mere port of Halo: Anniversary Edition, but a complete remake. Following its announcement, developer Halo Studios confirmed that Master Chief’s first-person shooter franchise is ‘now on PlayStation‘ going forward.
Meanwhile, two key members of the Halo: Campaign Evolved development team stated earlier this year that they see the game as ‘paving the way to expand our Halo universe,‘ presumably hinting at more remakes down the line.
