Hideo Kojima has expressed interest in collaborating with actor Norman Reedus again following the pair’s previous experience on the now-canceled Silent Hills for PlayStation 4.
Speaking at DICE in Las Vegas this week, the Metal Gear creator also briefly mentioned meeting up Reedus, best known for his portrayal of Daryl Dixon in The Walking Dead.
“I don’t know when, but it definitely would be great to work with him again,” he told IGN. “I’m a fan of Norman, and he’s an extremely nice guy. And last year he was worried, so I went up with him and told him, ‘everything is fine. I became independent. I’m doing my own thing now.’”
Silent Hills was conceived as a reboot of Konami’s venerable psychological horror franchise, and featured Reedus in the starring role. A demo was released following the game’s announcement at Gamescom 2014, known as Playable Teaser (P.T.), offering players a brief look at what Kojima Productions had planned for the title.
In addition to collaboration with Reedus, Silent Hills also featured Hollywood director Guillermo del Toro, who has described the partnership with the Metal Gear creator as beautiful. Del Toro has had a history with failed video game projects; he previously teamed up with THQ for the ill-fated inSANE for last-generation consoles.
The last entry in the Silent Hill franchise was released in March 2012 for PS3 and Xbox 360, and developed by Vatra Games. Read our full review of Silent Hill Downpour to see what we made of it.
