Horizon: Zero Dawn day one patch file size confirmed

Guerrilla Games has announced that Horizon: Zero Dawn does indeed come equipped with a day-one patch, although pleasingly it’s not a whopping 16GB as we were initially lead to believe. Nope, the good news is the update only weighs in at only 250MB.

Horizon: Zero Dawn Collector’s Edition

Sadly we don’t yet know what the update will feature, although considering it’s a relatively small size compared to most other day-one patches, we doubt it’ll contain any major changes. Regardless, Guerrilla said it’ll share details on the patch at Horizon’s launch.

Horizon: Zero Dawn release date

Horizon: Zero Dawn is scheduled for release exclusively on PlayStation 4 in North America on February 28, 2017 and in Europe on March 1. The game takes place in a post-apocalyptic landscape where humans all but been wiped out, with the world now populated by mechanised behemoths. Players control Aloy, a seasoned hunter who hunts down these robotic foes in hopes of harvesting their vital components to fuel the survival of her tribe.

The game is the first original IP since Guerrilla launched Killzone on the PS2 back in 2004, and is a significant departure from that series’ first-person shooting and high-octane set pieces. Instead, gamers will find themselves exploring a lush, open-world armed with primitive weaponry, with a greater emphasis placed on exploration and storytelling. Sony is already hoping that it may become the next big franchise for the company, although a sequel hasn’t been confirmed yet.
