Humankind Developer Amplitude Studios Has Been Sold By SEGA

SEGA has announced that it has sold Amplitude Studios, the developer behind Humankind and Endless Dungeon.

Speaking during its latest financial results overnight, the Sonic the Hedgehog publisher confirmed that Amplitude Studios has been sold as part of a management buyout. The move comes as part of SEGA’s ongoing European business restructuring program, which has resulted in many job losses and game cancellations.

Creative Assembly for example were working on a live service shooter, Hyenas, which was scrapped as a result of this restructuring, while the studios also suffered many layoffs alongside Sega Europe. Speaking of Creative Assembly, the developer announced recently that it’s working on a sequel to Alien Isolation.

In related news, SEGA revealed that it is delisting its Genesis Classics on PS4 next month, while its head of transmedia recently said during an interview that it is working on a new Virtua Fighter game.
