Keanu Reeves Video Games – Since his much heralded E3 2019 reveal as Johnny Silverhands, a rebellious rockstar and sometime companion to players in Cyberpunk 2077, the Hollywood star has been somewhat outspoken about the video game industry itself and where he sees it going.
Indeed, when asked about whether or not the industry needs legitimatizing in relation to its Hollywood counterpart, Reeves said that it actually works the other way around and that the movie industry could stand to learn a thing or two from video games instead saying:
“I don’t think they need legitimising. If anything, I’d say it’s gone the other way. It’s more of the influence gaming’s had on [Hollywood].”
“That idea of the technology of image capture and performance… We’re seeing in Hollywood now so many performances where they’re either ageing or making other performers younger. The elasticity of performance and time and what you look like and who you are. It’s getting more complex.”
Keanu Reeves for his part has also starred in two video games too, the forthcoming Cyberpunk 2077 and 2003 movie tie-in Enter The Matrix.

Cyberpunk 2077
In CDProjekt RED’s Cyberpunk 2077, a massive sprawling open-world cyberpunk RPG (on a much larger scale than The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the last game from the studio), Keanu Reeves plays Johnny Silverhands, a rockband frontman who finds himself caught up between the numerous factions of Night City.
Whilst we know that he is a companion NPC for the player, we don’t quite know yet how deep the involvement goes – and likewise we’re not sure if you’re able to romance his character either.
Time will tell – though it’s a touch sad that developer CDPR don’t want Reeves to sing in Cyberpunk 2077.
Enter The Matrix
A tie-in to the Matrix films that takes place between the events seen in the original film and The Matrix Reloaded, Enter The Matrix was released back in 2003 on PS2, PC, Xbox and Nintendo Gamecube.
Taking control of side characters Ghost and Niobe, Enter The Matrix was a roaming third-person action game that combined gunplay and slo-mo martial arts. Over one hour of footage was shot especially for the game and Keanu Reeves steps in to the voice booth to voice Neo, the character he plays in all three films.
Would we want a new Matrix game on next-gen consoles such as PS5 and Xbox Scarlett? Damn right we would.
