Konami Wants To Celebrate Its 50th Anniversary By Changing Its Name

Konami will reportedly change its name to Konami Group Corporation, pending approval by the companies shareholders.

If approved, the change would occur on July 1, of this year, which also marks the storied companies 50 year anniversary.

“Since its establishment, the Company has expanded its business as a pioneer in the Japanese entertainment industry and now operates in fours business segments: Digital Entertainment, Amusement, Gaming & Systems, and Sports.” said Konami.

“In marking the Company’s 50th anniversary since its establishment, we will change the trade name so that we, along with its group companies, will continue to take on new challenges and strive for further growth as a sustainable company.”

Konami currently has multiple projects on the go in one form or another, with Metal Gear Solid remasters in development, a Metal Gear Solid film starring Oscar Isaac, and multiple Silent Hill projects.

It’s all exciting stuff, but we’ve been lacking any kind of visuals for these projects, so we still have no idea what they’ll look like. At least both Metal Gear and Silent Hill fans are able to wait – they’ve had enough practice.
