All has been quiet on the L.A. Noire front until GC Asia 2008, where two very revealing details about the Rockstar-published project were unearthed, as reported by IGN.
First off, it appears the developmental scope of this game was underestimated by just about everyone. Tom Crago, CEO of Tantalus and the president of the Game Developers’ Association of Australia, spoke at the event about L.A. Noire, saying the game "could be the biggest budget videogame in development anywhere in the world. It would certainly," he continued, "in terms of console titles, be in the top ten…"
He then purported that the game will arrive on both 360 and PS3. While Crago has no official relationship with Team Bondi or Rockstar, it’s unlikely this information is incorrect. It makes sense; if a new intellectual property’s development cost is spinning out of proportion, it only costs around 10% more to port the game to another platform, which would limit risk significantly.
We’ve sent Team Bondi a message requesting official confirmation, but the answer is already fairly certain. We should have more word soon.
