Larian Confirms Divinity Will Have Co-Op At Launch

Bert van Semmertier, Technical Director at Larian Studios, has revealed during a Reddit AMA that co-op will be available in Divinity in time for launch, but thanks to planned mod support there won’t be a limit on how many players to join.

Yes, coop will be available for release. The amount of players playing together will be depending on the final party size. But since modding is planned for this project as well, players will be essentially free to extend this. There is no hard limit to the amount of coop players.

Divinity was announced during December’s The Game Awards, although there’s no word on a release date yet or what platform(s) it will be released on. Last week, Larian Studios CEO Swen Vincke said that the increased price of RAM is forcing the developer to undertake optimisations on Divinity that it wouldn’t ordinarily be doing at this point.

Larian Studios is riding high off the back of the critically-acclaimed Baldur’s Gate III, which launched for PC in August 2023 and arrived for PS5 the following month. Despite the huge success of the RPG, Larian soon announced it would be moving away from the franchise and the Dungeons & Dragons IP as a whole for its next project, rather than work on DLC for Baldur’s Gate III or a full sequel.
