There’s a sniff of hope that Left 4 Dead 3, Valve’s post-apocalyptic zombie shooter, could be on its way.
There’s been no official announcement of a release date for Valve, nor confirmation that it’s even working on a third game in its popular franchise. However, with such a large community of followers and near-perfect review scores from the last Left 4 Dead game, a third title in the series is surely only a matter of time.
The latest rumor that a Left 4 Dead 3 release is imminent comes from a screenshot of a banned game list from Azbekistan (yes, not the most reliable of sources). The list was detailed on the BBC news website as an official document from the country (which adds some weight to the rumor).
Among the list of banned, or soon to be banned titles in Uzbekistan are the likes of Mass Effect, Mortal Kombat X and Dead Space. However, tucked away on the list, next to Left 4 Dead 1 and Left 4 Dead 2, is Left 4 Dead 3! Whether it’s a typo, or the curator of the list knows something that hasn’t been officially confirmed is unknown, but it’s the first indication that the third game from Valve could materialize.
There’s more evidence of a Left 4 Dead 3 release that’s surfaced over previous months. A screenshot recently appeared showing a folder named “left4dead3”. Though this isn’t remarkable in itself, the folder was said to have been created by a Valve employee.
Based on this flimsy evidence, there’s not enough to prove that Valve is currently working on Left 4 Dead 3 but the rumors have fuelled the fire once more, and with demand comes pressure to reveal the goods. Let’s hope we’ll hear more on Left4Dead 3 soon!
