Developer Mihoyo has confirmed that a number of major Genshin Impact updates are on the horizon, many of which will coincide with real-life dates.

In future versions, we will combine the unique cultural and calendarial features of in- game regions with dates in the real world to host unique events in Mondstadt and Liyue. (e.g. Ludi Harpastum and the Windbloom Festival in Mondstadt, or Lantern Rite and the Moonchase Festival in Liyue).
In addition to the above, the studio revealed that it will be releasing new updates for the game every six weeks, with the first one major event arriving on November 11 in the shape of Unreconciled Stars. Following this will be the new Dragonspire area is targeting the end of December and Lantern Rite is aiming for February 2021.
Genshin Impact was released for the PS4 in late September and is looking to make over $100 million during its first month.
