BioWare has confirmed that the next chapter in the Mass Effect series is already in a playable state.
Speaking on Twitter (via GI), Aaryn Flynn, General Manager at BioWare Edmonton and Montreal, said, "Great time playing the next Mass Effect game in Montreal,” adding: “Ambitious. Beautiful. Fresh but recognizable. And fun.”
Mass Effect 4, as it’s tentatively known as by the gaming press, is confirmed to run on the Frostbite 2 engine, and will be a departure from the story focusing on Commander Shepard in the original trilogy.
BioWare hasn’t yet revealed whether the sci-fi RPG sequel will take the form of a prequel or a sequel.
