BioWare has celebrated its annual N7 Day with a brief update on the development of Mass Effect 5, and from the sound of things, production is progressing smoothly.
Here’s what the studio had to say on Mass Effect 5’s progress, although it’s obvious we won’t actually see the game in action for some time yet.
Since we last spoke about the next Mass Effect™ game, pre-production development has been proceeding very well. The team, comprised of Mass Effect franchise veterans as well as some amazing new additions to BioWare™, has grown steadily!
They’ve been hard at work crafting new characters and locations that you’ll love, as well as revisiting many that you’ll remember.
In addition to the above update, BioWare also provided a hidden voice teaser that fans have managed to decode, which is now available in they highest quality. It features returning character Liara T’soni conversing with the Geth, the sentient racing of machines featured heavily in the original trilogy.

The fact the Geth are involved makes sense, as last year’s N7 Day teaser for Mass Effect 5 featured art work that strongly hinted the machine race would be returning for the sequel.
BioWare recently said that Mass Effect 5 was being conceived as a single-player game, and back in April this year confirmed that the project was now in early development.
