Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain ships 3 million copies

Konami has announced that Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain has shipped three million copies worldwide since its launch on September 1.

The video game publisher confirmed the figure via an advertisement posted in the game’s native Japan, as picked up by NeoGAF. Note that the figure represents copies shipped to retailers, not sold to consumers.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain has achieved critical acclaimed since its release, although the game marks the final instalment in the venerable stealth-action franchise that will feature any involvement from Hideo Kojima. Despite this, Konami has confirmed that the series will carry on without him. 

Kojima-san has admitted he has no regrets over the whole affair, and has pledged to continue creating games for the rest of his life.
