Metro Exodus DLC Announced, First Expansion Dropping This Summer

Developer 4A Games has announced that it’s beavering away on two Metro Exodus DLC packs, the first of which will launch in summer 2019.

Metro Exodus DLC Focuses On New Characters

The Metro Exodus DLC will kick off with The Two Colonels, which sees Colonel Khlebnikov hoping to visit his son for New Year’s Eve by making his way through Novosibirsk, otherwise known as the dead city. That’s easier said than done, though. Mutant attacks are on the increase, and the ‘green stuff’ that protects the people from radiation is running low, so players will have their work cut out for them

“Following the journey and experiences of Khlebnikov during the last days of life in Novosibirsk, which Colonel Miller retraces a year later, players can expect the classic story-driven gameplay of the Metro series in this new linear chapter, complete with a brand new weapon, the deadly flame-thrower, claustrophobic environments, and the all-too-familiar hair-raising tension,” reads the blurb.

The second batch of Metro Exodus DLC will arrive in early 2020, and is called Sam’s Story. Here, players will be able to soak up a new sandbox level based on Vladivostok, where Sam, a US marine based at the Moscow embassy, must navigate in order to return to his homeland.

“Players will forge Sam’s path through the sandbox survival landscape of Vladivostok, as they take a brand new journey across the wasteland of post-apocalyptic Russia.”

The new content will arrive as part of Metro Exodus’ Expansion Pass, but 4A Games notes you can purchase them separately if you want.

Metro Exodus was released on PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox back in February, and sees protagonist Artyom attempting to flee the Metro system and embark on a journey across the ravaged landscapes on board the Aurora. As such, the game combines the traditional linear-style environments with open-world settings, as players can stop off while on their journey and freely explore the landscape.
