Michael Denny Departs Sony Ahead Of PS5 Release For TT Games

Sony Worldwide Studios Europe vice president Michael Denny has announced his departure from the PlayStation console maker after 25 years.

PlayStation Veteran Departs For TT Games

Denny will now take up a new role as vice president and studio head at TT Games, best known for creating the LEGO video game franchise. Here, he’ll be responsible for strategy, execution, and business operations for the developer.

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment’s David Haddad commented:

We are thrilled to welcome Michael to the team as we look towards an exciting future for TT Games and implement a new strategy for the studio. Michael’s extensive experience in game development and studio leadership, along with his games industry acumen, make him a perfect fit for this important role.

Denny’s departure comes following a number of changes within Sony Interactive Entertainment. Last year, Shawn Layden departed Sony suddenly without giving any reason, and we’re still in the dark as to why he actually left even now.

In addition, and in more positive news, Hermen Hulst, head of Guerrilla Games, was promoted to head of Sony Worldwide Studios.

The news comes as Sony gears up for the release of its next-generation console, PlayStation 5, in holiday 2020. Right now, there’s no sign of any delays for the system, despite the disruption being cause by the outbreak of COVID-19.

Sony’s Mark Cerny issued a deep dive into the PS5’s technical specifications last Thursday, where it confirmed a bunch of details for the console. This includes clarification on the backwards compatibility support, with the system able to play a large majority of PS4 games but will not support older PlayStation titles.

The new console will feature a revised version of the classic DualShock pad, complete with haptic feedback and possibly a built-in microphone allowing for voice commands.
