It’s no secret that Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment’s big game this year is Monolith’s Middle-earth: Shadow of War; especially given how excellent its predecessor, Shadow of Mordor, turned out to be. Not only is it WB’s main game for the year, it’s supposedly getting the publisher’s biggest marketing campaign of all time, too.
In an interview, WB SVP of International Olivier Wolff admitted that while the company’s sales expectations are massive, they are walking the walk by giving Shadow of War the biggest investment in terms of marketing.
“[Our sales expectations] are massive…Top Five or Top Ten massive. We’ve never had such an investment in one game and in a marketing campaign, and we believe that we have the right product in order to seduce a mass audience. We have very high expectations. It’s definitely going to be our game of the year, there is no doubt about that."
Wolff adds that they’re not concerned with the competition during the video game season’s busiest schedule, and even added that Shadow of War pre-order numbers are above Rocksteady’s excellent Batman: Arkham Knight!
"Pre-orders are pretty strong. They are above what we had for Batman: Arkham Knight and we are very happy with what we have."
In terms of post-launch support, Wolff said that they plan to support Shadow of War for "at least 18 months" after launch.
This is definitely good news for people looking forward to Shadow of War. go check out gameplay footage to see how it’s shaping up before it slices and dices on the PS4, Xbox One and PC this October 10.
