Modern Warfare 3 pre-orders are ‘meaningfully different’ to Black Ops

Pre-orders for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 are “meaningfully different” to those of 2010’s Cold War-era shooter Black Ops, says Activision CEO Bobby Kotick.

Speaking to Reuters, Kotick also indicated that consumer excitement surrounding the military shooter is unlike anything the publishing giant has witnessed in its entire history.

"It’s sort of surprising because you always go into the launch of a new Call of Duty game with an expectation that … it’s a hard number to beat, but if you look at the player enthusiasm for Modern Warfare 3, I don’t know if we’ve really seen anything like it in our 21-year history,” he said.

Modern Warfare 3 is due out in November 2011 for PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360.
