Need for Speed film sequel in the works, claims report

According to a report on Variety, EA and China Movie Channel are planning a sequel to 2014’s Need for Speed, the high-speed action flick based on the popular video game franchise of the same name.

The site states that the movie will be shot in China and that the studio has already several local actors in mind for major roles in the project.

Providing the rights to the movie can be acquired from Dreamworks, filming is expected to begin later this year. 

Need for Speed was directed by Scott Waugh and starred Aaron Paul as a street racing on a mission to avenge the death of his friend at the hands of a rival, played by Dominic Cooper. Despite a lashing by critics, the film grossed over $203 million worldwide at the box office.
