Netflix Cancel’s Its Live-Action Resident Evil Show After One Season

Little more than a month after it launched on the streaming service, Netflix is cancelling its live-action Resident Evil series after the one season.

The series quickly fell out of Netflix’s top 10, partly kneecapped by Stranger Things releasing its new season around the same time, but regardless it’s clearly not done well enough for the Netflix higher-ups.

It’s the second Resident Evil adaptation from Netflix in the last two years, as it released an animated show in 2021.

Neither show has made a big splash with both critics and fans, though there is still a full-length Resident Evil feature film adaptation to come from Netflix.

With the poor performance of both series so far, it raises questions as to what’ll happen with the film now, as Netflix could very well decide to give up on its Resident Evil plans.

That might not end up being the case, but it’ll be interesting to see how Netflix handles future video-game adaptations, after having gone through the ordeal of these two shows.
