Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy developer Eidos Montreal has pumped out a new behind-the-scenes look at the upcoming superhero title, which dives into how the studio went about designing the game’s eclectic cast of iconic characters.
The video features commentary from Eidos Montreal Art Director, Bruno Gauthier-Leblanc, and offers some insight into how the developer has struck a balance between inspiration from the wider Marvel universe and the game’s original narrative.
Much like Marvel’s Avengers, the character designs in Guardians of the Galaxy are not based on their MCU counterparts, which means Chris Pratt will not be lending his chiselled jaw to Peter Quill.

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is pencilled in for an October 26, 2021 launch for PS5, PS4, PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One. The game will not feature any microtransactions, and the game will place a large emphasis on the character of Star-Lord and non-linear story beats.
