Fresh details on Konami’s highly anticipated Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain have arrived from the recent Japanese boot camp event, where members of the press were able to go hands-on with the game’s campaign.
According to Watch Impress (translated by JunkerHQ), press tested out the PlayStation 4 version of the stealth-’em-up sequel, reporting a stable frame rate and short loading times. Overall, press were very impressed with The Phantom Pain’s performance on Sony’s current-generation console, which bodes well for those of us looking to pick up the game on PS4.
Of course, we already know that the PS4 version of the game is confirmed to run at 1080p/60fps.
Elsewhere, feedback on the game’s visuals also proved equally positive, particularly the lighting effects. In fact, reports went so far as to describe the FOX Engine as the offering the best lighting ever, bar none. That’s some praise indeed.
The Phantom Pain doesn’t offer any difficulty settings from the get-go; however, players will be able to unlock other difficulties upon completing the main campaign.
As previously reported, the game offers dynamic scenarios, such as when Snake orders his Combat Unit to destroy an enemy factory, limiting the enemy’s ability to acquire new equipment, such as helmets and weapons.
