CD Projekt RED‘s Philipp Weber has revealed that many of the new staff at the company who are working on The Witcher IV got into the “vibe” for the sequel by working on the new quest for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt a few years back.
Speaking on X, Weber, who serves as narrative designer on The Witcher IV, explained that working on these quests was ideal to get people prepared for the fantasy-RPG who were fresh on the team.
Two years ago we released a new quest for The Witcher 3. New designers and writers worked on it preparing for the Witcher 4, together with one of our most senior quest designers, who is with us since the Witcher 1. All in all, it was the perfect start to getting back into the vibe.

The Witcher IV is now in full production at CPDR, and received its debut trailer during The Game Awards 2024 in December. Unlike the original trilogy, The Witcher IV will feature Ciri as its main protagonist, something which CDPR has said was ‘the super right choice‘ to make. The role has also been recast, with Jo Wyatt replaced by Ciara Berkeley. Elsewhere, the developer revealed that Geralt is going to be the game, and that we heard his voice in the trailer; however, it isn’t yet known how much of a role he will have in the sequel.
The game director on The Witcher IV recently said that the highly anticipated title will implement brand new regions for players to explore, while its bestiary will also be expanded to include a new foe that will ‘play on your own fears.’
