No Man’s Sky creator Sean Murray has updated his Twitter account for the first time since August 18, in wake of a server hack that labelled his creation ‘a mistake.’
The shocking post was made on the Hello Games Twitter account and quickly deleted, leading many to suspect that the post was actually the result of a hack. No further messages were posted by Hello Games following the tweet, with the account quickly being made private following the message.
Polygon reached out to games designer earlier today, and was met with the following response from an individual claiming to be Murray himself:
“The tweet is from me, but somebody from the team took it down,” he replied. “We have not been coping well.”
Naturally, this is by no means confirmation that Murray himself was responsible for the tweet; this could well too have been the result of his email account being compromised, which light of Murray’s latest tweet now seems to be the case.
No Man’s Sky was released on PS4 and PC back in August. The game has been criticised since launch for failing to live up to Murray’s lofty expectations, with the Steam version of the game receiving a huge amount of negativity from users. The user base for No Man’s Sky has dwindled in the months since its release on both PS4 and PC, despite the fact Hello Games has been making an effort to update the game with various improvements over time.
