NPD June 2010 numbers are in – PS3 shifts 304k

The NPD Group has lifted the lid on official U.S. hardware figures for the month of June 2010, revealing that Sony’s PlayStation 3 has managed to shift just north of 300k units for the period.

DS took the lion’s share of overall sales once again, selling 510.7k units, while Xbox 360 managed to muscle in on second place with 451.7k (no doubt thanks to the new 250GB model), beating the Wii, which moved 422.5k.

Sony’s black behemoth followed up with 304.8k, with PSP coming in last with 121k units sold. Check out the full numbers below.

1. DS -510.7K
2. Xbox 360 – 451.7K
3. Wii – 422.5K
4. PS3 – 304.8K
5. PSP 121.0K

Year-on-year sales for the month were down by a total of 6 percent, however, with the NPD attributing the decline to lack of hardware and software sales on the portable gaming front. On the flip side, all consoles generated an increase in unit sales compared to the previous month.

Lifetime-to-date U.S. hardware figures for all platforms are as follows:

1. DS – 41,798,158
2. Wii – 29,540,081
3. 360 – 20,555,886
4. PSP – 17,436,836
5. PS3 – 12,719,696
