The NPD Group’s Mat Piscatella has revealed that the PS5 came out on top as February 2023’s top-selling hardware platform in units and dollars.
Sony’s latest home console helped to drive hardware market gains last month, with year-to-date hardware spending 29% higher in comparison to the same period last year. Furthermore, hardware spending was up 68% compared to February 201, reaching $495 million.

The NPD named the console as the best-selling hardware in dollar sales for 2022, and sales over the past few months have been incredibly strong for the format holder.
Sony launched the PS5 in major regions around the globe in November 2020, back when most of us were still in lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the stock shortages have now ceased, with sales of PS5 hitting 32 million earlier this year.
