Japanese gaming giant Capcom has announced plans to resurrect more of its dormant IPs after revealing at The Game Awards on Thursday that fresh instalments in the Okami and Onimusha franchises are in the pipeline.
Speaking on its investor relations site, the Resident Evil creator indicated that more classic IPs are set to make a comeback, which hopefully means we may yet see Dino Crisis resurrected at some point.
In addition to regularly releasing major new titles each year, Capcom is focusing on re-activating dormant IPs that haven’t had a new title launch recently. The company is working to further enhance corporate value by leveraging its rich library of content, which includes reviving past IPs like the two titles announced above, in order to continuously produce highly efficient, high-quality titles.

Following the release of Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster back in September, Capcom sent out a survey asking fans if the would like to see other titles in its back catalogue receive the same treatment. The survey mentioned franchises such as Devil May Cry, Lost Planet, Power Stone, and Resident Evil among others.
Earlier this year, Capcom released a survey asking fans “are there any Capcom game series (including spinoff games) that you would like to see get a sequel or new game?” Options include Breath of Fire ,Dead Rising, Dino Crisis, Okami, and Lost Planet.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword is currently in development for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S and is pencilled in for a 2026 window. Meanwhile, the Okami sequel is being headed by Clovers, the new studio from Hideki Kamiya, who directed the original Okami back in 2006.
