Overwatch update incoming as Blizzard teases announcement

overwatch update

Blizzard Entertainment has teased a possible new Overwatch update on the game’s official Twitter account, revealing it’s got something in the pipeline for a reveal on April 11.

The message itself is somewhat ambiguous, reading "King’s Row uprising entering into record seven years ago. Security clearance required: confidential." While it’s unknown what Blizzard has up its sleeves, the company has a record of teasing Overwatch content on social media, and recently suggested the popular shooter could receive a map editor at some point.

Overwatch map editor teased

We are extremely open-minded about releasing a map editor for Overwatch someday," said the game’s director, Jeff Kaplan. "But because Overwatch was made with a brand new engine, this is not a small task or one which can happen any time soon."

The most recent Overwatch patch was released a few weeks back in the shape of update 1.08, which was preceded by the launch of another new character, Orisa, that same week.

Overwatch was released in summer 2016 and quickly notched up over 15 million players, becoming one of the most successful games of the year. In fact, a testament to its popularity among gamers can be seen in the fact it dethroned Uncharted 4 as the best-selling videogame in June 2016.
