Sony Interactive Entertainment President & CEO Jim Ryan has issued an apology for the PS5 supply issues in Japan & Asia, and assured consumers that the problems are now resolved.
The executive made the statement at the PlayStation Partner Awards:
We would like to report that we have resolved the long-term supply issue of the PlayStation 5 and we will be able to deliver to Japan and Asia customers from year-end shopping season and into 2023. We apologize for any inconvenience and greatly appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
Many fascinating titles were born in Japan and Asia in 2022, and I look forward to honoring them for their outstanding achievements today.
…PlayStation will continue to strive to be ‘The Best Place To Play’ for everyone.
The PS5 was released in November 2020 in the US, UK and other major territories, although supply remained constrained thanks to a shortage of vital components brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.
