Sony Computer Entertainment Australia has announced that the PlayStation 3 has sold approximately 460,000 units in the territory since its launch in 2007.
The platform holder revealed that 213,000 consoles have been sold in the past year, with the overall install base including 70,000 PS3’s that were given away as part of a Bravia LCD promotion.
In terms of how Sony’s machine stacks up to its rivals, Microsoft’s Xbox 360 currently stands at 537,000 units sold, while the Wii leads the pack with an install base of one million in the region.
