The fourth and final DLC for Call of Duty: Black Ops II is making its way to PlayStation 3 on September 26. The Apocalypse pack will include four new multiplayer maps – Pod, Frost, Takeoff, and Dig – along with an all new zombie experience called Origins.
The first map, Pod, is a more vertical minded map than seen in previous maps. It’s abandoned 70’s utopia set in Taiwan with pods placed into the side of a cliff. Players will not only be traversing these pods, but the various tiers of the cliff as well.
The second map, Frost, is a snow covered European city that is split by a frozen canal. The bridge itself is broken as well, causing players to be strategic in how to approach the enemy side.
The third map, Takeoff, is modeled after the map Stadium from the First Strike DLC in Call of Duty: Black Ops. This new map has a similar close-quarters combat emphasis that’s mixed with large open areas, set on a remote launch site in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.
The fourth map, Dig, is an adaptation of the map Courtyard from Call of Duty: World at War. The setting of the map is established as two archeological dig sites in Afghanistan with two major chokepoints. It also has an open layout and raised platforms, giving players multiple paths to discover.
The final feature of the Apocalypse DLC pack is Origins, which is “the most horrifying and imaginative Zombies experience to date.” Players are set in the French countryside during World War I, where they encounter the original soldiers from the first zombie maps in Call of Duty: World at War; Tank, Nikolai, Takeo, and Richtofen. There are also mysterious ruins located somewhere one the map for players to discover.
Apocalypse will be headed to PlayStation 3 and PC on September 26 and priced at $14.99, or free to download for Season Pass holders.
