Sony Bend has indicated that its upcoming PlayStation 4-exclusive open-world title, Days Gone, is still some ways off from hitting store shelves.
Speaking during an interview with VentureBeat, Darren Yager commented, "We’re still early in development, but right now, this is something like our worst case scenario. We’re still adjusting the amount of guys and their alertness and things like that.”
Elsewhere, Sony Bend’s Ron Allen touched on the game’s zombie-like enemies, reiterating that they are a different breed to the ubiquitous, shambling undead that we’ve come to know and love.
"Our guys are actually alive. They’re ‘Freakers.’ That’s what we’re calling them. This game is set two years after a pandemic wiped out most of the population and turned most of the rest of humanity feral. In a weird way, they’re trying to do everything you’re doing. They’re trying to survive. You can come upon areas in the game where they’re just looking for water to drink. They’re trying to stay alive," Allen said.
Days Gone announced at E3 2016, features massive hordes of foes and lush open-world

Days Gone was announced during Sony’s E3 2016 press conference, where the format holder treated audiences to not only a juicy reveal trailer, but a full-blown gameplay demo showcasing the game’s action sequences.
Set in the Pacific Northwest two years after a mysterious pandemic, Days Gone has players taking control of a biker-turned-bounty hunter as he fights to stay alive in a world populated by hordes of mutated ‘Freakers.’
Days Gone will feature a large open-world to explore packed full of quests to tackle, with resource management and crafting also forming a core part of the gameplay experience. Your motorcycle is also a valuable tool, helping you to explore the game world quickly and efficiently.
The ambitious title marks Sony Bend’s first original IP since the launch of Syphon Filter back in 1999, and is the first game the company will ship since 2011’s Uncharted: Golden Abyss.
