Team Ninja’s critically acclaimed action-RPG, Nioh, has debuted in second place on the U.K. All Format Chart following its launch on PlayStation 4 last week.
The game was beaten to the top spot by Grand Theft Auto V, which continues an impressive chart run despite launching back in September 2013 for PS3 and Xbox 360. No doubt Rockstar’s continued support for the game’s online component, Grand Theft Auto Online, has fueled sales despite there being no single-player downloadable content on the horizon.
Elsewhere, Resident Evil 7: biohazard drops to third place, and as a result wasn’t quite able to match the chart success of Resident Evil 3: Nemesis and Resident Evil 5, which managed three consecutive weeks at the summit of the U.K. Charts back in 2000 and 2009, respectively.
Nioh was the only new release last week, although expect things to be shaken up in the not-too-distant future with the launch of Sniper Elite 4 and Horizon: Zero Dawn. Read our Nioh review to see what all the fuss is about regarding Team Ninja’s latest effort.
