Sony Interactive Entertainment has posted a new FAQ regarding PSVR 2 on the PlayStation Blog, confirming the headset will allow you to use Cinematic Mode to play non-VR PS5 games.
PSVR owners will recall that this feature was available for playing non-VR games on the PS4, and it’ll return here offering 1920×1080, which is a big step up from PSVR. HDR will also be supported, although you won’t be able to enjoy true 4K resolution all this same.
However, there’s a big advantage for PSVR 2’s Cinematic Mode in that it will be able to support up to 120 FPS, allowing any compatible games to run silky-smooth without sacrificing anything when displayed in Cinematic Mode. Blu-ray movies are also supported, while Netflix and other streaming services available too.
The PSVR 2 is pencilled in for release on February 22, 2023 and will launch with numerous games both first and third-party, including titles originally released for PSVR but are now enhanced for Sony’s new headset.
