The Red Dead Redemption 2 community has uncovered a brand new mystery involving spider webs, more than seven years since the game originally released on PS4 and Xbox One.
Users goldenplaysterraria, pariah87, and FL4VA-01 unearthed the first spider web, which is believed to be part of a wider mystery that also involves other symbols dotted across the map. Up until this point, it had been assumed that the community had unearthed everything Red Dead Redemption 2 had to offer.
However, this particular mystery was tricky to uncover as it requires a number of specific events to trigger. For example the first spider web only spawns between 3.00am and 4.00am in-game on a telephone pole out in the wilderness. More details are revealed in a video provided by Strange Man, a Red Dead Redemption content creator.
The telephone pole where the spider web spawns features a symbol that points to other locations where the webs appear on the map. In addition, the webs have a feather that can be shot off by the player, and are met with a ‘N’ (presumably meaning to head North) after heading to the middle of this spider symbol.
Following this directions will take you to another telegraph pole, which instructs players to head west and shoot five more poles. Once this is done, you’re then required to head north-west, where a guard tower awaits with a guitar inside. Bird symbols are found on the roof of this tower, which point north. Players are still attempting to work out the next steps of this newly-found riddle.
Red Dead Redemption 2 launched in October 2018 for PS4 and Xbox One, and late last year it was revealed that the Wild West adventurer had hit 79 million copies sold worldwide.
Back in September 2025, Dan Houser, the co-founder of Rockstar Games, named Red Dead Redemption 2 as the ‘best thing‘ he worked on during his time with the studio. Rumours continue to build on a dedicated PS5 and Xbox Series X/S version of the critically acclaimed Wild West title, but nothing official has been confirmed yet.
