Rockstar will debut the Red Dead Redemption 2 trailer as soon as this Thursday, according to sources close to former TechRadar writer, Hugh Langley.
Red Dead Redemption 2 release date hinted at for 2018
However, Langley followed up with a comment suggesting we won’t be playing the new Red Dead Redemption until at least 2018. “This is Rockstar,” he quipped.
The news follows previous reports that Rockstar is poised to unveil a new instalment in its critically acclaimed western franchise this week, and comes on the heels of yesterday’s first Red Dead Redemption 2 artwork appearing online.
Of course, Rockstar has yet to officially announce the new game, and it’s unknown at this point if it will actually be called Red Dead Redemption 2; we’ve heard murmurs of Red Dead Retribution in the past, and there’s every chance it’ll be called something else entirely, possibly to tie in with the appearance of seven characters seen in the artwork.
Map leak suggests large open world
Rumors on a follow-up to John Marston’s Wild West adventure have been doing the rounds for a while now, although things gathered pace earlier this year with the game map leaked online, which suggests that the game will be set in an area called the Black Plains.
It has also been suggested that the game will be a prequel to the original RDR, although nothing official has been confirmed yet. Rumored names include Red Dead Renegades, and Red Dead Redemption: Legends of the West.
In the meantime, don’t forget you can play Red Dead Revolver on PS4 right now, as Sony’s made the 2004 action-adventure game available on the PlayStation Store as part of the PS2 Classic’s range.
