Resident Evil 6 is heading to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, according to a listing on the Korean Game Rating and Administration Committee website.
While nothing official has been confirmed as of yet, it’s worth pointing out that the Korean board is the same one that successfully outed the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the former 3DS-exclusive title, Resident Evil: Revelations.
Furthermore, a current-generation port of Resident Evil 6 would make a lot of sense, seeing as how Capcom has previously outlined high-definition remasters of its back catalogue as a key component in its business strategy going forward. Earlier this year, the company released Resident Evil HD Remaster to great success on PS4 and Xbox One, and is currently finishing up working on the re-release of Resident Evil Zero.
In addition, the Japanese software giant is also working on a full-blown remake of Resident Evil 2, although that’s probably not going to show its face for quite a while yet. Regardless, Resident Evil celebrates its 20th anniversary next year, so there’s bound to be some interesting things happening throughout 2016 for fans of the venerable survival horror franchise. Rumors of Resident Evil 7 have been doing the rounds for the past 18 months or so, and it’s very likely we’ll hear something on the game next year.
Resident Evil 6 was originally released on PS3 and Xbox 360 in October 2012, and remains perhaps the most critically polarising mainline instalment in the series to date. The game offers three distinct campaigns, with Leon S. Kennedy and Chris Redfield joined by newcomer Jake Muller, who finds himself paired with Sherry Birkin of Resident Evil 2 fame.
