Prominent Resident Evil series leaker AestheticGamer (aka Dusk Golem) has claimed that Capcom is still looking to launch a new Resident Evil game annually, reiterating that not only is there another title due next year, but also in 2022.
New Resident Evil Game Coming In 2022
The tipster had previously leaked the Resident Evil 3 remake demo release date, and has now teased that Capcom has plenty of plans up its sleeves. Not only that, but M-Two, the lead studio on the Resident Evil 3 remake, is behind one of the new titles.
Here’s what he had to say on Twitter:
So the “Annual Resident Evil” thing I talked about is going to be true for a while longer. There is a Resident Evil game to launch in 2021, and a Resident Evil game set to launch in 2022. There may or may not be a year delay in 2023, hard to say right now.
M-Two, who are actually one of the lead developers in the game. I was a bit wrong say Div 1 was not working on it, because they were, I mis-relayed the information that the RE2 team was not working on it. M-Two are still the lead developer on it though, and actually let me tease right now M-Two is the lead on another Resident Evil game, not the next one that releases but the one after that, but I promised I wouldn’t say too much on that title for now.
As mentioned, AestheticGamer has already revealed that Capcom has plans to launch a new Resident Evil game in 2021, but this is the first time we’ve heard about a new game following the following year.
Likewise, he’s been quite forthcoming about Resident Evil 8, which has apparently been rebooted numerous times and is still some way off.
Capcom will launch Resident Evil 3 remake on April 3 for PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One. The game follows the highly successful Resident Evil 2 remake, which has now surpassed sales of the original version of the game.
