Rockstar has touched on a potential follow-up to L.A. Noire, insisting gamers shouldn’t “count out the possibility” of a sequel to the celebrated crime caper.
Developed by now defunct Aussie coders Team Bondi, L.A. Noire released back in May 2011 to critical and commercial success, and received extensive post-launch support.
However, despite the game’s developer now being out of the picture, Rockstar has refused to rule out the possibility of a new game later down the line.
"Don’t count out the possibility of a new game in the L.A. Noire franchise in the future. We simply have not decided anything," a company spokesperson wrote in a Q&A on Rockstar’s official website.
"We’re all very pleased with how that game turned out and are considering what the future may hold for L.A. Noire as a series."
Despite this, the industry giant was quick to note that gamers shouldn’t necessarily expect a follow-up to materialise in the near future.
"We don’t always rush to make sequels, but that does not mean we won’t get to them eventually – see Max and Red Dead for evidence of that – we have so many games we want to make and the issue is always one of bandwidth and timing,” said the spokesperson.
