Leaker Tom Henderson has claimed that the as-yet unconfirmed new Splinter Cell game currently in development is being positioned as an open-world title.
According to Henderson, the new Splinter Cell will essentially play like a stealthier version of Assassin’s Creed, and will feature an open-world similar to what Halo Infinite features. That’s about all he offered, but again, the game is in the very early stages of development.

Details on the new Splinter Cell game started trickling in a few months back, and we last heard that the game will feature elements inspired by the Hitman series.
If you were to ask most gamers what series they’d like to see make a comeback from the past 10 years or so, then Splinter Cell would almost definitely come up a few times. It was last seen in 2013 with Splinter Cell: Blacklist.
