According to Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson, the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Hexe is now targeting a Holiday 2027 release window (it was previously mooted for a 2026 release), with the developed team having now completely revamped the game’s combat system.
Speaking on the latest Insider Gaming Podcast, Henderson, who has a long history of providing details on upcoming Assassin’s Creed titles, including leaking details on Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag Remake, claimed that the alleged witchy powers of protagonist Elsa are still true, albeit only to a “certain degree.” He also stated that Assassin’s Creed II’s Ezio Auditore was set to appear roughly “halfway through the game” to “kind of teach her the ways of the Assassins and all that kind of stuff.”
While Henderson didn’t say if this was still the case, he did reveal Ubisoft has “complete” revamped the series’ combat. “They actually hired contortionists to come in and do mo-cap for it. So there’s going to be a lot of like acrobatics as well in the combat system.”
As reported last week, Clint Hocking, the creative director on Assassin’s Creed Hexe, has now departed Ubisoft, although the company was quick to note that development of the project is continuing with a ‘seasoned team.’
Ubisoft announced Assassin’s Creed Hexe alongside Assassin’s Creed Shadows back in 2022. Not much about the game has been shared yet, although Henderson previously claimed that it will be the darkest entry in the series yet, and is planned to take place during the European Witch Trials.
