Legendary Canadian rockers Rush have joined forces with Activision to include the band’s seminal 2112 suite in the Quest Mode for Guitar Hero: Warrior’s of Rock.
Gamers will be able to tackle all 20-minutes of the mammoth progressive rock piece, which comes in seven parts: ‘Overture’, ‘The Temples of Syrinx’, ‘Discovery’, ‘Presentation’, ‘Oracle: The Dream’, ‘Soliloquy’ and ‘Grand Finale.’
Furthermore, each song transition will include members of the band narrating the linear notes from the album. “The music, the story and the journey of 2112 lends itself perfectly to the quest in Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock,” commented Geddy Lee, vocalist, bassist and keyboard player for Rush.
“In our story, the caves of 2112 are where our hero finds the lost guitar and this rediscovery of music is much like the Guitar Hero warriors’ journey to find the Demi-God of Rock’s Legendary guitar, which has been trapped in a cavern.”
The group’s guitarist, Alex Lifeson, also chipped in on the matter, stating, “I love the idea of Guitar Hero; they have combined two great things – music and fun,” adding, “I think it’s a great way to introduce people of all ages to music of various styles by all kinds of different bands, while providing a launching pad for kids who want to get into playing music.”
Released in 1976, 2112 was Rush’s first album to go Gold in North America, and eventually racked up Platinum sales by 1981. The record is considered by fans to be the quintessential Rush album, and the band has played the eponymous rock spectacle live in concert (albeit in abbreviated form) since its inception.
