The official Rust Twitter has revealed that the game’s European servers have suffered a major data loss due to a fire. Unfortunately, the damage done by the data centre fire has meant that lost data will not be restored.

The news comes in wake of the Rust Console Edition closed beta going live, as well as a confirmation of the game’s release window for PS4 and Xbox One after months of waiting.

Rust was released for the PC to great success, and the console version of the game will include online play for up to 100 people with Cross Play also rumoured for launch. Players are trust into a post-apocalyptic landscape where they must survive at any cost, managing a variety of factors including thirst and hunger.
The island is populated by many hazards, from radiation poisoning, other players, roaming scientists, and indigenous wildlife, and it’s up to you to find the best way to survive: there’s no hand-holding in Rust.
