From Software’s Hidetaka Miyazaki has revealed that the second slice of downloadable content for Dark Souls III won’t be arriving until early 2017.
Speaking during an interview with Taiwanese site GNN (via Google translation), the brainchild behind the Souls series confirmed that his company is currently beavering away on “two large sections” for the critically acclaimed action-RPG.
However, he also revealed that “the first chapter (is due for release) in the fall of 2016,” with “the second chapter in early 2017.”
Both DLC drops will be available as part of Dark Souls III’s Season Pass, which will set you back £19.99. Further details regarding both DLC packs have yet to be confirmed.
Darks Souls III was released earlier this month and debuted at no.1 on the U.K. All Format Chart, selling through the majority of copies on the PlayStation 4. It also beat launch sales of its 2014 predecessor by 61 percent.
The Souls series debuted back in 2009 on the PS3 in the shape of Demon’s Souls. A critical darling, the game drummed up a cult following, and was followed by the spiritual successor, Dark Souls, in 2011.
From Software followed this up with Dark Souls II a few years later, with the series now garnering mainstream success in addition to rave reviews. Miyazaki-san also headed up the PS4-exclusive Bloodborne, which shares many similarities with the Souls franchise.
