SEGA confirms NiGHTS into Dreams HD remake

NiGHTS into Dreams is being remastered in high-definition for PlayStation Network, PC and Xbox LIVE Arcade this fall, SEGA has announced.

The publisher previously hinted at a possible HD remake of the acclaimed flying platformer earlier this week, when it posted an image of one of the game’s stages on its official Facebook page.

Based on the PlayStation 2 remake of the Sega Saturn classic, NiGHTS into Dreams features spruced up visuals, 16:9 aspect ratio, leaderboards and Trophies/Achievements.

Those of you who want to experience the game in its original glory however will have the option of playing through Saturn Mode, featuring the classic 32-bit visuals intact and untouched.

Chris Olsen, Vice President of Digital Business at SEGA, commented: “The SEGA Saturn offered many unique gaming experiences, and NiGHTS into Dreams…stands out as one of the most recognizable titles that found a home on the system.”

“We’ve gotten a lot of request about this game over the years, and are very happy to be able to give both former Saturn owners and new players a chance to play it in its most beautiful form to date this fall.”

NiGHTS into Dreams was first released on Saturn on July 5, 1996.
